A man armed with a gun and threatening suicide by cop forced the lockdown of Kingsley Elementary School in Bloomingdale on Wednesday.
He was taken into custody following approximately an hour of negotiations with police in the front yard of a home on Bloomingdale Pike. The incident occurred approximately a block and a half from the school, which took the lockdown actions as a precaution.
Officers with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office responded to the home, 3033 Bloomingdale Pike, shortly after noon. SCSO Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart says the suspect, Paul Hodges Jr., 42, was located sitting in the backyard with a shotgun, and speaking on the phone to SCSO Sgt. Chad Peters.
