ELIZABETHTON — Haynes Elliott grew up in a town that was dominated by one industry. His hard work, colorful personality and persuasive contestation helped transform Elizabethton into a more diversified economy.
Elliott died Tuesday at 89. Up until the last few years of his life, Elliott remained an active leader in the community, promoting economic development and recruiting new businesses for the community.
