Gray man accused of breaking into home, holding wife hostage

BLACKWATER, Va. — A Gray, Tenn., man was arrested by Southwest Virginia authorities on multiple felony charges Saturday night for allegedly holding his wife hostage at gunpoint for several hours inside her Scott County home.

Brett W. Freeman, 147 Circle Drive, Gray, was charged by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office with breaking and entering, abduction, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting into an occupied dwelling, assault and trespassing for his alleged role in the incident.

Lee County authorities were responsible for taking Freeman into custody. He faces additional charges there of possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon.
