A Johnson City woman accused of kidnapping a friend and that woman’s two children had a preliminary hearing in Washington County Sessions Court Tuesday, and the case was sent to a grand jury.
Lisa Renee Jester Story, 30, 1708 Sherri Hill Road, was charged with two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping, one count of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
After the hearing, Judge Robert Lincoln bound the case over to the grand jury.
The incident happened Feb. 10 when Story and victim Lissie Thomas and two children — ages 2 and 4 — were in Story’s car at Clark Manor Apartments about 1 a.m.
Thomas testified at the hearing that she and Story had been hanging out together for three days prior to the assault and kidnapping. That night, both women received phone calls, Thomas said, and that caused some type of argument.
According to Thomas, Story assaulted her — hit her with something silver, she said — which bruised the area around her eye.
Thomas initially told police Story had a handgun, but during the hearing she only said it could have been a gun.
After being assaulted, Thomas said Story drove the victims to a residence in Carter County and took $700 from Thomas, as well her cell phone and pocketbook.
Thomas said Story left her and the children at that residence.
Police found Story in Johnson City a short time later with a handgun and $354 in cash.
Story remains jailed until her appearance in Criminal Court.
