Local restrictions on synthetic drugs

Many local municipalities have debated or taken action on synthetic drugs like bath salts and K2. The following is a list of what locally has been done to curb the sale of synthetic drugs:

Kingsport –– Banned synthetic drugs in December; provided $50 fine and court costs to sell, purchase or use those drugs
Bristol –– Banned synthetic drugs in December; provided $50 fine and court costs to sell, purchase or use those drugs
Sullivan County –– Banned synthetic drugs in December; provided $50 fine and court costs to sell, purchase or use those drugs
Washington County –– Approved motion to ban sale, use or possession of synthetic drugs Thursday night; would likely assess maximum civil fine if given final approval
Jonesborough –– Established a temporary moratorium on the sale or distribution of synthetic drugs
Johnson City –– Said in December it was considering an ordinance that would curb synthetic drug use and sale
Mount Carmel –– Banned synthetic drugs in January; provided a $50 fine and court costs to sell, purchase or use those drugs
Surgoinsville –– Banned synthetic drugs in December; provided a $50 fine and court costs to sell, purchase or use those drugs
Nashville –– General Assembly expected to make it a felony to use, make or sell synthetic drugs in Tennessee during this session
