Knoxville’s Rentenbach Constructors is now roughly 70 percent complete in its construction of the 67,000-square-foot Memorial Park Community Center, which is on track for completion in April.
With the center being completely under roof, the rain Wednesday did not stop workers from making progress inside.
The overhead HVAC and duct work is progressing toward the aquatics area, where masons will make their appearance toward the end of the project to do the finishing work on the acoustical decking.
Meanwhile, workers have set the two fireplaces in the main foyer area around which a circular reception area will be built.
The complete project budget is about $15 million, which includes design, site preparation, furnishings and other equipment and materials.
The center is the first phase of the city’s planned 25-acre Memorial Park Community Campus.
