December 31st, 2011 11:36 pm by Staff Report

A prior driving under the influence offender was arrested early Saturday morning when an officer stopped a vehicle on Interstate I-26 near the East Mountcastle Drive overpass, police said.
According to a release, police found the driver, Terry A. Cooper, 12 Mellow Lane, Bristol, Va., to be under the influence of alcohol and unable to further operate his motor vehicle. A brief investigation of Cooper’s license found he was a habitual motor offender out of Virginia and was revoked out of Tennessee for a prior DUI.
Cooper was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and charged with driving on a revoked license, driving under the influence and being a habitual motor offender. His bond hearing is set for Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Washington County Sessions Court.
