Kingsport delays annexing Tri-Cities Crossing property

December 27th, 2011 11:14 am by Matthew Lane

KINGSPORT — Kingsport officials have delayed annexing more than 340 acres in the Tri-Cities Crossing area of town until the city has a better idea of how to pay for the $2.5 million of sewer work estimated for the property.
The targeted land is also the remaining property of a special taxation district that is outside the city limits — which is the main reason why Kingsport seeks to annex it.
Earlier this month, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen established the Tri-Cities Crossing area of town (the Interstates 26 and 81 interchange) as a border region retail tourism district in accordance with a new state law.
