Man charged with passing $440 in fake cash at Johnson City GameStop

Johnson City police arrested a Bluff City man on charges that he used counterfeit cash at a mall store earlier this month.
Timothy Houston Culbert, 20, 849 Old Elizabethton Hwy., Bluff City, was charged with criminal simulation and theft of property under $500.
Police said Culbert used counterfeit money to purchase merchandise from GameStop in the Mall at Johnson City.
According to a report, Culbert passed $440 in counterfeit $20 bills to buy a Sony Playstation 3 and a controller. A GameStop manager reported the incident to police Dec. 8, and a warrant for Culbert's arrest was issued Dec. 13.
Culbert was arraigned today in Sessions Court. A preliminary hearing was set for Dec. 29.
He remained held in the Washington County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
