Former Surgoinsville vice mayor bills town $28,000 for storage

December 13th, 2011 10:08 am by Jeff Bobo

SURGOINSVILLE — Former Surgoinsville Vice Mayor Charles “Otis” Lawson sent the town a bill last month for $28,125 for “storage” of military surplus items between 2006 and 2007 that were the subject of a state comptroller probe at the time.

Mayor Johnny Greer said Monday night he wouldn’t be surprised if that bill, which has been forwarded to the state comptroller’s office for investigation, results in new criminal charges against Lawson.

Lawson and his attorney, Larry Boyd, had no comment Monday night.
