Sandusky Newspaper Division promotes Phares

Doug Phares has been promoted to the position of President – Sandusky Newspaper Division, it was announced today. As president, Phares will be the chief operating officer of all Sandusky’s newspapers, their related digital operations and supporting units.
The announcement was made by David Rau, Chief Executive Officer of Sandusky Newspapers, Inc. and its subsidiaries. Sandusky operates The Standard-Examiner in Ogden, Utah; Kingsport Times-News, Johnson City Press and Lebanon Democrat in Tennessee; the Sandusky Register and Norwalk Reflector in Ohio; and the Grand Haven Tribune in Michigan, as well as radio stations in Phoenix and Seattle.
Phares, 45, has been publisher of the Sandusky Register and president of the Sandusky Midwest Division. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he has worked in the media business since 1989, first with Copley Newspapers and later Boone Newspapers before joining Sandusky in 2005.
