Alleged mother-son kidnapping team bound to Sullivan grand jury

KINGSPORT — The cases of a mother and son accused of an alleged abduction attempt in a Kingsport parking lot have been bound over to Sullivan County Criminal Court.

Ellen L. Meadows, 54, of 115 Ramsey Private Drive, Blountville, is charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault. Her son, Thomas W. Meadows, 35, of the same address, is also charged with aggravated kidnapping. Their cases were bound over to be heard by a Sullivan County grand jury during an appearance Tuesday in Kingsport General Sessions Court.

According to police, Ellen Meadows wielded a gun and tried to force another woman into a vehicle at approximately 10 a.m. in the parking lot of the Wellmont Outpatient Center, 103 W. Stone Drive, on Oct. 20. Police report Thomas Meadows was in the back seat of the vehicle.
