KINGSPORT — A Friday afternoon collision on Interstate 26 involving two cars, one of which had been left on the shoulder due to a flat tire, sent a pair of people to the hospital and slowed eastbound traffic.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. near mile marker 5, just outside Kingsport city limits. Tennessee Highway Patrolman Robby Greer said a Mazda 6 had been left on the shoulder early Friday morning after experiencing a flat tire.
The owner returned with a spare on Friday afternoon, finding emergency workers on scene and their Mazda slammed into a guardrail. According to witness statements collected by Trooper Greer, an eastbound Chevrolet Cavalier veered right and onto the shoulder, striking the Mazda with its front and passenger side.
