KINGSPORT — A pair of Kingsport men have been arrested after allegedly stealing a pickup truck earlier this week, then selling it to a scrap yard for $300.

An arrest report from Kingsport police says the vehicle, a 1986 Toyota valued at $2,000, was stolen sometime between Sunday and Wednesday from 2001 Idle Hour Road. After filing a report on the theft the owner visited local metal buyers, locating his pickup at Scrap Masters, 441 Morelock Street.

Police responded to find the vehicle identification number on the dash had been altered, while the VIN plate on the door had been removed. The business provided video of two men bringing the vehicle to the scales, receiving $297 for the truck as scrap, as well as a thumb print and ID information on one of the suspects.
