Solar photovoltaic tech training course offered

Businesses or persons interested in learning the basics of Solar Installation and Photovoltaic Technology can now take advantage of a free five-day training course at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education, 300 W. Market St., Kingsport.
The training, offered by The Tennessee Solar Institute, will begin Jan. 30 and run through Feb. 3. The training times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with lunch provided. The training course focuses on many different aspects of the Solar PV field, including PV history and market developments; solar concepts and terminology; onsite PV system configurations and components; and PV safety. At the conclusion of the course, there is an entry-level Certificate of Knowledge exam, endorsed by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners.

A pre-screening exam is required for all registrants. Interested parties should contact their local TN Career Center, in advance of the Solar PV course, to take the Career Readiness Exam. Only individuals that earn a gold certificate on the CRC can register for the Solar PV training course. There are no exceptions.
