The Milligan College cross country program has received several post season honors, and the women’s squad was ranked 15th in the final NAIA Top 25 coaches poll. The nine-time defending AAC champions jumped from the 25th after the performance in the national championships. The Buffaloes finished 15th on a slow Vancouver course, and were led by All-American Gillian Giffen.
The Buffs men, led by All-American Austin Ellis, was ranked 29th in the final poll. Seth Grindstaff, Ethan Johnson, Lauren Hubbard and Janey Robinson were all named as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Natalia Rivas-Lopez, Meagan Smith, Dwayne Jordan, Hubbard, Robinson, Johnson and Grindstaff were all selected to the AAC All-Academic Team.
Layne was named the AAC women’s coach of the year. Ellis and Giffen both claimed AAC runner of the year honors. The Milligan women captured their ninth straight AAC title, while the men narrowly missed upsetting Bryan College on its home course.
