A Johnson City man picked up additional charges Tuesday after police learned that he had tried using stolen credit cards at ATM machines and used one at a local restaurant, according to a news release.
William Leroy Elrod, 63, already faced five counts of auto burglary from an arrest on Friday.
Police said Elrod broke into a vehicle in Johnson City and stole property. He was in possession of credit cards he had stolen from vehicles and made attempts to use them at local ATM machines to get cash. The investigation also revealed Elrod had used one of the credit cards at a local restaurant and forged the victim’s name on the receipt.
Elrod was charged with auto burglary, five counts of fraudulent use of credit card under $500 and forgery under $500.
He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $16,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Wednesday.
