Sheriff: Former jailer caught on video bringing contraband into jail

A former detention officer with the Washington County Detention Center was arrested Friday after investigators caught him bringing contraband items into the jail in return for cash, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Dustin L. Scott, 23, 732 Mill Springs Road, was caught on video and audio surveillance in July accepting contraband from an inmate’s spouse after he agreed to bring in items in return for $1,000 cash, according to Sheriff Ed Graybeal.
At the time of incident, Graybeal said Scott was a recent addition to the jail’s staff.
Scott reportedly told investigators he had brought items into the jail on previous occasions.
Scott’s case was presented to a Washington County grand jury earlier this month. He was being held at the Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bond.
Scott is scheduled to be arraigned during the next term of Criminal Court.
