Romney meets privately with backers in Knoxville; media barred

November 17th, 2011 2:22 pm by Staff Report

KNOXVILE — Mitt Romney is making a private fundraising campaign pit stop at the Knoxville Convention Center now, but to get even a glimpse of the GOP presidential candidate, it'll cost you.

All media was banned from the fundraising event. In fact, journalists were blocked at the exterior door from entering the public convention center, or they were escorted out of the building if they had been inadvertently admitted.

Romney backers shelled out a minimum $1,000 a person to attend, or $2,500 if the attendee wanted to have a photo taken with the former Massachusetts governor.
