Volunteer student suspended, charged over alleged threats to bring gun on campus

CHURCH HILL — A 17-year-old Volunteer High School student was suspended indefinitely and charged with disorderly conduct Tuesday for allegedly making text and Internet threats about bringing a gun to school.
VHS Student Resource Officer (SRO) Tony Spitzer received a tip from a student Tuesday that the threats had been made, Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said.
As a result of an investigation, the boy was allegedly found to have sent at least two threatening text messages as well as posted threatening messages on Facebook and Twitter.
