BLOUNTVILLE — Three men have been arrested in connection with an alleged dog-fighting ring in Kingsport.
The Humane Society of the United States reports working with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office on the case, prompting felony charges against the suspects. Four dogs have been removed from the residence, which has yet to be publicly identified, while Humane Society investigators say the men appear to have longtime ties to organized dog-fighting.
According to records filed at the Sheriff's Office, Travis Trent has been charged with 16 counts of animal fighting while his father, Van Trent, is charged with 11 counts. Another man, identified in a USHS press release as Alex Thurston, was charged with 13 counts. As of Monday night the men's ages and addresses were not available.
