NEWPORT — Four additional allegations of sexual misconduct with students and a teacher surfaced against embattled Cosby High School football coach and teacher Tyler Shelton. Meanwhile, the Cocke County Board of Education will meet Thursday to conclude the process of firing Shelton.
In a memo dated Nov. 3 to the board from director of schools Manney Moore, a current student claims that Shelton sent her "numerous" text messages that stated she "looked so good that he couldn't wait to go to work."
Also, a former student, who also was a cheerleader, said that in the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years, Shelton made multiple advances on her. It included inviting her to his home so he could "teach her football." She said Shelton had a habit of not letting her pass through the school gym "without a token," which meant she had to give him a hug.
