Serious injuries avoided in three-vehicle crash

Two people were taken to an area hospital Thursday afternoon following a three-vehicle collision on Milligan Highway.
Elizabethton police said a Ford Escape, which contained two 16-year-olds, rear-ended a Honda, driven by Grizel Williams, 20, 1398 Cattail Point, along Milligan Highway in front of the West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department, causing it to rear-end a Toyota Tacoma, driven by Melissa Coleman, 42, 1698 Powder Branch Road, that was stopped due to traffic.
No serious injuries were reported, but both Williams and Coleman were taken to the hospital, according to Officer Ryan Brackett.
The teen driver of the Ford Escape was charged with failure to exercise due care.
