Downtown traffic stop results in 5th DUI charge

October 30th, 2011 9:30 am by Staff Report

A man whose Florida driver's license had been permanently revoked was arrested early Saturday morning in downtown Johnson City on his fifth DUI offense.
Mack Junior McCranie, 39, 106 VIP Road, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. after police spotted an expired tag and stopped his vehicle at West Unaka Avenue and Jackson Avenue.
Police said a records check revealed that McCranie had four prior DUI arrests and was declared a habitual motor offender in Florida, as his license had been permanently revoked in that state.
Charged with fifth offense DUI, habitual motor offender violation and driving on a revoked license, McCranie was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center pending a bond hearing in Sessions Court on Monday.
