The Occupy Wall Street movement is planning another peaceful protest in downtown Knoxville this afternoon and while confrontations have occurred at other Occupy events across the country, Knoxville police are anticipating a peaceful event.
Darrell DeBusk, public information officer with the Knoxville Police Department, said no special security measures are being taken. "We're not changing anything we normally do. This is the same group that has done several of these," he said. "We're not anticipating any problems."
Jeremy Spiers, member of the media committee for Occupy Wall Street (Knoxville), said activities will start at 11 a.m. in Krutch Park adjacent to Market Square and end around 5 p.m. "Generally, we march through various parts of downtown from Summit Hill and back toward the City County Building," he said.
