Walter Lee Davis Jr. has joined the firm Hunter, Smith & Davis LLP. Davis has served clients in East Tennessee for more than 30 years.
He is certified by the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization as an Estate Planning Specialist, holds a Tennessee CPA certificate and is a Tennessee licensed Real Estate Broker. Davis received the Accredited Estate Planner designation from the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils, an association of more than 225 local estate planning councils with a combined membership of more than 26,000 estate planners in the various estate planning disciplines of attorneys, accountants, trust officers, financial planners and life underwriters. His legal practice focuses on estate planning and administration and real estate transactional work.
Davis earned an undergraduate degree with majors in accounting and real estate from Memphis State University and his law degree from Vanderbilt University. His civic activities have included the Johnson City Rotary Club, Johnson City Regional Planning Commission, Sequoyah Council Boy Scout Board, Tipton-Haynes Historic Association Board and Mountain States Foundation Board. He served the Tennessee Bar Association in numerous capacities, including chair of three different sections, East Tennessee vice president and as a member of the House of Delegates and the Board of Directors. In addition to serving as president of the Tri-Cities Estate Planning Council he also, in 2008, served as National President of NAEPC.
