East Tennessee State University will celebrate its homecoming with a week of activities beginning Monday.
The school, which turned 100 Oct. 2, will begin homecoming at Monday’s 7 p.m. men’s soccer match against Clemson. This game will be held at Summers-Taylor Stadium. In case of rain, homecoming activities will be moved to Brooks Gym.
Events are planned all week, but most activities happen Saturday, with an open house for students, a book sale in the Sherrod Library, class reunions, the annual “Luncheon Under the Tent” and the men’s basketball game at 4 p.m. against Tusculum.
The luncheon will be held at the soccer stadium. Tickets are $8 per person for lunch only or $15 per person for the luncheon plus tickets to the afternoon men’s soccer and basketball games. At 1 p.m., the Buccaneer soccer team will take on the University of South Carolina Upstate. The luncheon menu includes barbecue pork, grilled chicken, hamburger and veggie burger sliders, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, cookies, brownies and assorted beverages.
For advance tickets, more information or special assistance for those with disabilities, contact the ETSU Alumni Office at 439-4218 or visit www.etsualumni.org.
Graduates from 1971, 1981, 1991 and 2001 are invited to celebrate their reunions Saturday. Special seating will be available at the luncheon for members of these classes.
Graduates of the schools department of audiology and speech-language pathology are invited to that department’s first reunion. Reunion attendees will gather for a “meet and greet” at 11 a.m. at the Wayne G. Basler Center for Physical Activity’s multipurpose room.
All former ETSU cheerleaders and dance team members are invited to attend a reunion Saturday, too, at the luncheon.
