Bluff City handyman arrested after failing to do roof repairs

PINEY FLATS — A project manager for 'Anytime Handyman' in Piney Flats allegedly didn't live up to his company's billing, as police have arrested him for collecting payment on a job he would never begin.

The Kingsport Police Department reports James Richard Rowe, 52, of 119 Hillcrest Road, Bluff City, is charged with theft of more than $1,000. On July 5 Rowe allegedly collected an advanced payment of $1,430 for a roofing job at a Kingsport residence.

Police say Rowe was supposed to begin work within a few days, but neither he nor anyone else from Anytime Handyman ever returned.
