Man charged in fatal shooting of East Knox acquaintance

KNOXVILLE — Knox County detectives have arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 53-year-old East Knox County man.

Glen Edward Morton, 57, 1308 Bales Road in East Knox County, is in jail this morning in lieu of a $1 million bond on charges of kidnapping and first-degree murder, according to records.

Morton is accused of shooting Max Richard Thompson, 53, in the abdomen with a M-1 rifle. The weapon has been recovered, according to Knox County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Martha Dooley.
