KINGSPORT — Detectives have released more information regarding the homicide of a 65-year-old Kingsport woman, saying she was bludgeoned to death as she sat on a couch in her living room.

Kingsport police report there are no signs of forced entry into her home, 361 Barnett Drive, apartment 2 — and that the murder was "extremely brutal." A toolbox containing two handguns and two collector knives is believed to have been stolen from the residence.

"They could have got what they wanted without such physical force," said KPD Det. Randy Murray.
