Spotting a tag number helped Johnson City police Sunday arrest a man who had fled a traffic stop a day earlier, police said in a news release.
William Shelton Jr., 31, no address listed, was charged with felony evading arrest, driving on a suspended license and driving on an expired registration.
Police said Shelton fled an attempted traffic stop, but his tag number was obtained. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office checked the registered address and contacted Shelton, detaining him on an unrelated warrant.
Shelton was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $11,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.
