Johnson City police arrested a Jonesborough man accused of stealing jewelry and selling it to Johnson’s Jewelers on Boones Creek Road.
George Tommy Thompson Jr., 34, 122 Clover Run, was taken into custody on a warrant for aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000. The arrest was the result of an investigation of a burglary reported by the residents of 2803 Sumpter Drive, Johnson City, who had also been the victim of a burglary on June 27, 2007, in which Thompson was arrested as the perpetrator.
Further investigation showed that on Sept. 8, the defendant sold several pieces of jewelry at Johnson’s Jewelers. Thompson was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000.00. He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond. He appeared in Washington County Sessions Court on Monday.
