ELIZABETHTON — A 26-year-old man has been charged with inappropriate touching of an 8-year-old girl following an investigation by the Elizabethton Police Department.
Kenneth Bear, 310 South View Circle, was arrested Monday on a charge of aggravated sexual battery following his indictment by a Carter County grand jury. He is scheduled to report to Criminal Court on Nov. 22.
The EPD began its investigation on July 15 after a girl told them she had been grabbed and inappropriately touched by Bear. The girl said she went to Bear’s residence to take some food to his family, but when she got there she found that Bear was there alone.
She told investigators Bear grabbed her in the hall and raised her shirt, touching her chest and then made an inappropriate comment. The girl said she tried to pull away from him for several minutes before he finally let her go.
The case was presented to the grand jury on Sept. 6.
