September 13th, 2011 10:26 am by Staff Report

BLUFF CITY — Sullivan County authorities are investigating a likely “bottle bomb,” the remnants of which were found in a local high school parking lot.

According to a news release, just after 7 a.m. Monday the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an explosion in the parking lot of Sullivan East High School.

School Resource Officer Steve Hinkle was the first to respond, the release said, and he reported observing smoke in the lower parking lot and discovered the remains of a plastic bottle. No one was injured by the explosion.
