One man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
WSCO Capt. Mark Page said Joshua Ellis, 26, 313 Chestnut Grove Road, Jonesborough, lost control of his Mitsubishi Lancer while driving along Highland Church Road about 1:50 a.m. Monday.
Ellis was going around a curve near the 300 block of Highland Church when he lost control of his car and went into the other lane. He apparently overcorrected and shot back across the road, which spun the vehicle into a telephone pole and power pole sitting together. The vehicle hit the poles on the driver’s side, Page said.
Ellis had severe neck and head injuries, Page said. He died at the scene.
According to the crash report, speed may have been a factor in the crash.
