The Milligan College volleyball team came up short in two games Friday, losing to 3-2 Warner University and 3-1 Trinity Christian on the opening day of the Clearwater Christian Labor Day Classic in Clearwater, Fla.
The Buffs won the first two sets against Warner 25-21 and 25-18, but dropped the next three 19-25, 22-25 and 10-15. Chelsea Spivey had 47 assists, 12 digs and five kills, while Kendra Fiddler had 15 kills, and Rachel Renville and Kylie Whaley had 13 kills apiece. Morgan Rutledge had 24 digs, while Erin Pittman had 16.
In the second match, the Buffs dropped the first set 23-25, but won the next 25-8. Trinity won the third 28-26 and fourth 25-17. Rutledge had 21 digs, while Fiddler had 13 kills. Spivey had 35 assists, 12 digs and five kills.
Milligan (1-6) plays host Clearwater and College of St. Catherine at today.
