Sullivan East teacher charged with sexual exploitation of minor

September 2nd, 2011 11:08 am by Rain Smith

BLOUNTVILLE — A math teacher at Sullivan East High School has been arrested on seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reports Det. Jason Hite presented evidence this week to the grand jury, concerning explicit photos of an adult female and juvenile male. Sherri Baffa, 36, of 1001 Bitty Circle, Bluff City, was subsequently indicted. She turned herself in at the Sullivan County jail on Thursday evening and was released after posting $50,000 bond.

Police report jail records list Baffa as an employee of Sullivan East, while the school's website identifies her as a teacher of algebra and geometry. Attempts to reach Sullivan County school officials for comment have not been successful.
