Johnson City police arrested a man early Friday morning on a charge that he robbed another man of $3 and a cell phone. A second robber remained at large.
Jason Lee Avery, 36, 883 W. Main St., Apt. 202, was arrested after police responded to a disturbance call at 410 Wilson Ave. just before 2 a.m.
Police saw two men walking toward the street from behind the house and found that one of the men had been assaulted, police said in a news release.
According to a court document filed by police, the victim reported that he had been assaulted and robbed by Avery and another unknown man.
The victim told police that Avery and the other man robbed him of $3, his wallet and his cell phone, but he was able to retain $15 in his hand during the struggle.
Police said Avery consented to a search, and he had $3 in his pocket. The victim's wallet and cell phone were found behind the Wilson Avenue house.
The victim, whom police did not name in the news release or the court record, was treated for injuries at the scene.
The second assailant had not been identified, according to the court document.
Charged with robbery, Avery was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $50,000 bond. He was arraigned Friday in Sessions Court and was scheduled to return to court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
