CHATTANOOGA (AP) — Investigators have concluded that the deaths of a man and woman who were struck by a train while lying on the tracks at a private road crossing north of Chattanooga were accidental.
Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond said investigators viewed photos that were taken by a camera on the Norfolk Southern train about 6 a.m. on Aug. 22 and the victims, 27-year-old Michael Hennen and 19-year-old Hannah Barnes, appeared to be lying embraced on an asphalt area between the tracks. He said there was no indication they moved before being struck.
Hammond said Hennen was the night manager at a restaurant where they had both worked until closing. He said Hennen had sent a message to someone on the property, saying that he was coming out to swim.
