MEMPHIS (AP) — Relatives of a 7-year-old girl killed in a drive-by shooting in Memphis arrived at her home to mourn the death of the little girl.
Memphis police say Miranda Thomas was shot sometime before 1 a.m. in the Whitehaven neighborhood Saturday. Officers arrived at the apartment where she lived at 12:48 a.m. and discovered Miranda lying on the bedroom floor with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Memphis Police Department spokeswoman Karen Rudolph says two suspects in the shooting attempted to talk to two females who lived at the apartment. Rudolph says when the girls ignored them, the suspects shot into the home.
The Commercial Appeal in Memphis reports carloads of cousins, an aunt, a grandmother and other family members arrived at the apartment after the shooting Saturday afternoon (http://bit.ly/pTFKoB).
