August 28th, 2011 11:32 am by Staff Report

A Spruce Street man was arrested Saturday on a charge that he struck a neighbor's face with a stick, injuring her.
Johnson City police charged Gary Scott Simmons, 47, 1402 Spruce St., Apt. 1, with aggravated assault.
In a news release, police said officers went to 1402 Spruce Street on a complaint about a man striking a woman with a stick. The woman told police that her neighbor had been drinking and struck her face with a stick, causing a small laceration.
Simmons was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.
Police did not identify the victim or include further details from the incident in the news release. A more detailed police report was not immediately available Sunday.
