SEVIERVILLE — Authorities arrested a 45-year-old Sevier County man after officers found dozens of dogs, cats, birds and lizards in horrific conditions in his home.

Jeffery Ward, 290 Ingle Hollow Road near Sevierville, faces 66 counts of animal cruelty, one charge of aggravated animal cruelty and one offense of growing marijuana, according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.

Ward was being held today in jail in lieu of $4,500 bond. Authorities said his bond will be increased and Ward faces a Sept. 26 hearing in General Sessions Court.
