Day or night, fair's full of fun

August 24th, 2011 10:52 pm by Staff Reports

The Appalachian Fair in Gray is a wonderland, especially at night. The lights twinkling from the rides as they turn round-and-round, plus the soothing sounds from the carousel and the smell of sugary funnel cakes create fond memories that we won’t soon forget.
Whether pushing a stroller holding the newest addition of the family or strolling hand-in-hand with a significant other, the stages of life change, but elements of the 85-year-old fair stay the same. The traditions are unique to each family, and may include riding the Ferris wheel, eating a corn dog or feeding the barnyard animals. The air is cooler and the crowds are a bit thicker, but it’s worth standing in line to take a ride on the pirate ship and snap a mental picture of the colors swirling together as the carnival ride picks up speed.
That’s a night to remember.
