Protestor charged in abortion clinic scuffle

August 19th, 2011 8:23 pm by Staff Report

Police arrested two protestors Thursday after the executive director and owner of a Knoxville abortion clinic swore out a warrant accusing both of them of trespassing and one of them with injuring her.

William Gogar, 53, was charged with assault and criminal trespassing, and Richard Armstrong, 39, was charged with criminal trespassing. The charges are all misdemeanors.

Knoxville police spokesman Darrell DeBusk said officers met with Deborah Walsh, 58, Thursday morning at Volunteer Women's Medical Clinic on South Concord Street, where she told them that she removed an unattended cross that was implanted in a grassy area adjacent to the clinic.
