Jones named Tusculum coach

Tusculum College named Michael Jones as its men’s basketball coach on Tuesday.
Jones spent the last 12 years as head coach at South Atlantic Conference member Brevard College. He replaced Jim Boone, who resigned after six seasons as Tusculum coach to take a similar position at West Virginia Wesleyan.
Jones was named the SAC coach of the year in 2009-10. He led Brevard to the NCAA Division 2 tournament after winning the SAC tournament. Jones’ team finished 21-10 and set or tied 27 individual and team records.
As a college head coach. Jones has 214 victories in 14 years, including 175 in 12 seasons at Brevard. Jones led his teams to three national tournaments, including two with the Tornados, and seen five of his players offered professional contract, including two in the NBDL.
