Today deadline to apply for FEMA storm aid

Today is the deadline for people impacted by the April 25-28 storms, tornadoes and flooding to register for federal disaster assistance.
To receive government disaster aid, those who experienced damages or losses must register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. today. The TTY number is 800-462-7585.

To register, applicants should have the following information available:
— Address of the affected property;
— A brief description of the damage;
— A current mailing address;
— Social Security number;
— Insurance information, including policy numbers; and
— A telephone contact number or an alternate phone number such as a cell phone or work number.
Those registering with FEMA may receive a loan application from the Small Business Administration that must be completed and returned today.
Storm victims do not have to borrow money but may be eligible for additional FEMA grants, even if they are not approved for a loan.
