BRISTOL, Va. — Bristol police have arrested a Tennessee man in the shooting of a man found near Virginia Middle School late last month.
Eric Stephon Howard, 20, Bristiol, Tenn., was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, attempted robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Adam Brent Fleenor was found suffering from a gunshot wound near the intersection of Fairmount and Piedmont Avenues on July 26.
The 31-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Fleenor had dialed 911 to summon help.
In a news release, police said investigators believe the shooting occurred in the area of Highland Avenue, near where the wounded man was found.
The investigation was continuing, police said, and further information would be released as it became available.
Howard was held the Bristol Jail without bond.
