Mount Carmel woman accused of embezzling from employer

GATE CITY, Va. — A Mount Carmel woman was indicted on more than 20 counts this week for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars from a Virginia-based oil distributor during her employment there.

Kimberly Ruth Grills Peek, 36, 1982 Chesapeake Drive, Mount Carmel, was indicted by a Scott County grand jury on 21 felony counts of fraud, forgery, uttering and embezzlement.

She was arrested at her home Wednesday by Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies and is currently awaiting extradition to Virginia.
