76-year-old Cocke County woman allegedly shoots at weed task force

August 4th, 2011 4:25 pm by Natalie Neysa Alund

A 76-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after authorities say she shot at state and local law enforcement as they were recovering marijuana plants from a rural area in Del Rio.

Zeanne Speyrer, of 1225 Cougar Trail, was charged with six counts of reckless endangerment after she fired two shots at agents with the Governor's Marijuana Eradication Task Force, Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes said today.

Fontes said his deputies and task force agents were collecting marijuana plants in a rural area near Cougar Trail when Speyrer fired two shots at the team as they were transported evidence back to their vehicles.
