MSHA buys Wilson Pharmacy’s retail business

August 3rd, 2011 10:43 pm by Heather Richardson

Wilson Pharmacy’s retail business, comprised of three locations in the Tri-Cities area, has been purchased by Mountain States Health Alliance.
MSHA purchased the three retail stores, located in Johnson City, Boones Creek and Kingsport, on Monday for an undisclosed price. According to MSHA’s Vice President of Home Health Services Karen Cober, MSHA currently has no plans to change the normal operation of the retail stores other than attaching its name to the businesses.
Cober said MSHA has worked in partnership with Wilson Pharmacy for at least 15 years and the purchase of its retail operations was “a confirmation of a relationship that we’ve had for some time.”
“This just seems like a natural evolution that we solidify that partnership and become stronger partners,” Cober said.
MSHA has also purchased Wilson Pharmacy’s Infusion Services division, which provides services to patients who don’t require hospitalization but can’t be served on an outpatient or ambulatory basis and those who require complex medical, pharmacy, nursing and other related services.
Wilson Pharmacy provides comprehensive health care services to Washington, Carter, Unicoi, Greene, Johnson, Sullivan and Hawkins counties in Tennessee as well as Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina. The company will retain its compounding, institutional and clinical management concepts divisions.
